The Escapist BHST (Black Hole Spacetime) is a non-specific interplanetary entity whose depicted experiences are a poetic imagining of spaces of understanding within and beyond contemporary science.

 

This is a navigation tool for interdimensional travel and the archive of The Escapist located in the Museum of Black Hole Spacetime somewhere in outer space.

Enter each portal located in the sky to find out more about the The Escapist. The portals can be downloaded and saved to your mobile device or desktop computer for use as background image interfaces.

Use the moving Museum of Black Hole Spacetime to travel to another universe.



Align the navigational circle with the centre of each portal or the moving museum, then tap or click in order to enter. The Escapist BHST (Black Hole Spacetime) is a navigation tool for interdimensional travel and the archive of The Escapist located in the Museum of Black Hole Spacetime somewhere in outer space.

Upon entering the first Universe the user discovers 8 portals in the sky. Each of these may be downloaded and set as desktop images or wallpapers on computer screens, tablets and phones. The Museum of Black Hole Spacetime floats between the 8 portals allowing access to the second Universe. Inside the second Universe the sky clouds over with stars and a new set of portals appear. Here you can access the archive of the The Escapist which includes a comic, diagrams, paintings, watercolours. The Museum of Black Hole Spacetime enables the user to return to the first Universe.

The Escapist BHST project also includes a group of works that envision intelligent life forms on other planets, drawn and painted by scientists at CERN, Geneva.

Suzanne Treister lives and works in London and the French Pyrenees. She has been a pioneer in the digital/new media/web-based field since the late 1980s, when she began developing projects about video games, virtual reality and software. In 1995 she made her first web project and invented a time-travelling avatar, the subject of an interactive CD-ROM. An ongoing focus of her work is the relationship between emerging technologies, society, alternative belief systems and the potential futures of humanity. Recent projects include HEXEN 2.0 (2011), Post-Surveillance Art (2014), HFT The Gardener (2015), SURVIVOR (F) (2016–19) and The Escapist BHST (Black Hole Spacetime) (2018–19).
